COMLA Analysis - Week 4

Glad to announce that this time the crystal ball is on time. Before we go to ALMOC, let's take a look at COMLA league.

Joe managed to score 1898.5 for this week. That record be number to beat for this early season. Fu has finally lost his undefeated record and now share the 1st position with 4 others. Let's look at this week current standing.
PS: Since I had a dream about a dog last night, so this week edition going to be in dog version.

The "Saint Bernard" class

One of the biggest dog breed in the world. A working type dog, well known for alpine rescue and most importantly its size. Size does matter. Or in this case... Winning record does matter
Thus the fab-five are:
1. Gepeng 3-1-0   .750   6077.50

2. Gunners 3-1-0  .750   5838.50

3. GeNNoSuKe 3-1-0  .750   5511.50

4. iWinner 3-1-0  .750   5234.00

5. ConCarne 3-1-0  .750   5231.00

The "German Shepherd" class
The dog which originally used for herding and guarding sheep. Because of its strength, intelligence and abilities in obedience training it is often employed in police and military roles around the world.
6.a d a w n2-2-0   .500    5983.00

7.Matoa2-2-0   .5005095.00

8.Shazaam2-2-0   .5004759.50

The "Bull dog" class
Although not known for its big size, this is a very muscular heavy dog. A very determined dog with a distinctive pushed-in nose. Very strong dog despite its size.
 9. SuperDuck     1-3-0    .250    5704.00

10. The Senior's Team     1-3-0 .250 5393.50

11. Curse Breaker     1-3-0 .250 4922.00

The "Chihuahua" class
Small dog yet popular and can be a very loud. A graceful, alert, swift-moving little dog with saucy expression, compact, and with terrier-like qualities of temperament. Despite its size and it's friendly image, this is indeed a very fierce and temperament dog. Never underestimate its size.
12. Archaeonz Sunrise     0-4-0     .000    5078.00

Next week in week 5, the most anticipating match will be Gepeng vs iWinner. While they currently shared the 1st place with 3-1 record, who will be able to win this big match and stay 4-1?

A Very Touching Story About Chris Paul

Some of you may have already seen this, but it was the first time for me and I found it very amazing. I found this video after reading some article in dimemag where it mentioned briefly about Chris Paul back a while ago.

This story happen back in 2002, back when Chris Paul ain't a super star. He had not even enter college Wake Forest, yet alone in NBA.
Chris Paul in 2002 was 17, your typical high school star, who are just about to try to make a name for himself.
This was where the legend of CP3 started.
Take a moment to check out the video. I just grew respect for him after watching the video of then "17 year old Chris Paul"

Metiu? Metiu who?

This guy is right now the most talk about in our bb group and his name is Wesley Matthews. He has both consecutive big games, after scoring 30 points on his first start, he scored 20 points, 10 rebs, 3 tripples, 1 steal and 2 blocks on the following game. And with those two games, he is now a hot item.

Here are some facts about Matthews:
- Undrafted, however got a spot in Utah Jazz in 2009-2010 and signed for a year
- Started a few games under Coach Sloan
- Pursued by Portland after one year in Jazz, was offered a 5 years, 34 millions (a ridiculous amount at the time, considering he was undrafted and hardly known of him)
- Son of a former NBA player Wes Matthews who won 2 rings with lakers in 1986-1988

10 Best New Keeper Candidate For 2011-2012

It's still early in the season, and here in our blog we like to post everything earlier. Here are the list of the players which I think can be a nice keeper  for next year. Let me know if I miss anyone.

10. Javale McGee
McGee currently perform what to be expected of him. Blocks shot and Rebounds. His rebounds could still improve, only 6.6. But the blocks alone enough to get him to rank 63rd. His play seem to be improving so he could be a good keeper drafted at round 10th by Wasabi Bistro

9. Tony Parker
Despite having a problem in his real life, TP is playing the best in his career right now. Averaging career high assist rate and career high in steals. He is now rank 21st, if he can maintain this number, it would be a great keeper to Bitch Slappers at round 8th

8. Dorrell Wright
Many have not heard about wright until this season, but this guy could be the imitation of last year Frye, his strength is in his 3 pointers, but he also average close to 1 steal and 1 block. He was undrafted and currently ranked  44th. Congrats to Gennosuke

7. Eric Bledsoe
Even with so many rookie drafted this season, many people didn't pay any attention to bledsoe until baron went down. Bledsoe played brilliantly on his first game as starter and continue to do so. He was undrafted, he didn't rank quite high yet in average, but he seem to be improving every game since he is just a rookie. With Baron Davis aging, bledsoe is the perfect candidate to replace him. Again Congrats to Gennosuke

6. Mike Conley
The 4th year PG suddenly have a breakout season after getting a big extension from Memphis. His assist and steal improve dramatically this season. He was drafted in the 9th round, however is performing brilliantly with ranking 57th. A good pickup by Matoa

5. Nicholas Batum
Expectation was high on Batum, which many experts believe his game is roto friendly. Batum proved just that, ranking 50th at the moment having an all round stats in everything. With Roy having a repeated injury, batum value can only go one way, UP. Clearly a good pickup in the round 9th by iFoe.

4. Wilson Chandler
Not a high expectation for Wilson, playing his 4th year and did not even get an extension from NY. But maybe that is what Wilson need to show how great he could be. He is having his best career this year, in fact he is the non center who leads in BLK other than the guy called Josh Smith. As he is now ranked 23rd, a great pick for Stats Masta in round 11th

3. Luis Scola
This season should have not been a breakout year for Scola, Houston has Yao returning, added more scorer with Kevin Martin, however Scola prove he can have a breakout year if he wanted to. Currently rank 14th, he was a value pick drafted 6th round by Wasabi Bistro

2. Elton Brand
It's rare that a player who has been playing in the league for 12 years suddenly have a breakout year and be a good keeper. But after having 5 horrible years,  this year Elton seem to remind people how good he was 5 years ago ranking 13th in roto. A value pick at round 8 for Gennosuke

1. Serge Ibaka
The 2nd year Congo Forward show how valuable he is in roto. A high FG, high rebound, low TO and most importantly a good Blocker are the reason why he ranked so high in roto. If he maintain this number, he could be this year Curry as he is now rank 11th in roto (Yes he is rank higher than Durant right now). Congrats to Gunners for clicking his name at 12th round draft or should I say mis-click :p

Love me x 31

This article is a tribute to Kevin Love for posting a historic 31 points and 31 rebounds. Something tell me that he may repeat this performance again. His rebound skill reminds me of Dennis Rodman.
Some facts you may not known about Kevin Love
- He was not drafted by the Wolves, but actually by memphis, then traded on the draft night with o.j.mayo in 8 players trades.
- He was not the first player drafted from his College. Westbrook his teammate from UCLA drafted 1 spot before him
- His father Stan Love was playing in NBA from 1970-1975 in Baltimore Bullets, LA Lakers and San Antonio Spurs
- He is the nephew of Mike Love, the founder of Beach Boys

Nine Freaking Fantasy Points

This is the score from 3rd week from Comla
Adawn 1610.5
The Senior's Team 1601.5
Gunners 1595
iWinner 1495.5
Gennosuke 1443
ConCarne 1397
Gepeng 1373
Shazaam 1365
Archaeonz Sunrise 1342
SuperDuck 1332
Curse Breaker 1200.5
Matoa 1133.5

Now you would assume my team The Senior's Team did really well, considering David Lee didn't play two games because of the infamous rabies tooth of Wilson Chandler. However since I met Adawn that week... so I still lose. So despite beating everyone else with a large margin, I still lose. I hate Comla... Arghhhh

I agreed with wandy, right now comla is so CCC

Should These Guys Be Here?

Based on the small samples of this young season, I looked at the top 25 players in the ALMOC.
This are my take whether these guys belong or not to top 25 until the rest of the season, what do you think?

1. Gay, Rudy
All the stats are too high for gay right now. He wont finish top 10, but will finish top 25
2. Paul, Chris
3. Brand, Elton
This guy will get my vote for the biggest comeback of the year, the scary thing, I believed he can finished top 10
4. Gasol, Pau
5. Millsap, Paul
top 25? he'll barely miss it, the reason he is on this list is because of his 62.5% FG which I dont think he can maintained
6. Smith, Josh
7. Anthony, Carmelo
8. Noah, Joakim
His reb per game will drop from 15 rpg to 12-13rpg, but he will be top 25
9. Ginobili, Manu
Not surprised he is in this list, he will be in borderline top 25 at end of the season.

10. Westbrook, RussellI know westb got game, and he is good in real nba. But somehow I dont think he will finish top 25, not in 9 cats.
11. Horford, Al
12. Ellis, Monta
13. Richardson, Jason
J rich is over performing IMO, I dont think he will be top 25
14. Wright, Dorell
Of all the players in the list, this will the first guy to go
15. Wade, Dwyane
16. Hibbert, Roy
Yes, this guy will be one of the leader in reb and blk, he deserved to be here
17. Scola, Luis
Definitely, if he has decent BLK in the game, he would have been top 10 already
18. Curry, Stephen
19. Garcia, Francisco His value is too high to be top 25, top 50 is possible though

20. Duncan, Tim
21. Nowitzki, Dirk
22. Rondo, Rajon
23. Bryant, Kobe
24. Granger, Danny
25. Pierce, Paul
Too many options in BOS, pierce is a good player, but wont crack the top 25 when end of season is here.

Who else do you think should be here other than Durant and LBJ?

Wi's Crystal Ball - Week 2

Spareparts & Whats Good About NBA Fantasy

Waiting for my client is always a long wait .... i am gonna write bout FA biatch which involves PJ brown back in the days .. i am more happy with our league now where there will be no PJ brown biatch :D .... back in the days everyone has a piece of pj brown .. cuz he always guaranteed dub-dub back in the bulls uniform. however many fantasy players took him just to get his stats for couple of days and decide to waive him after ... poor PJ brown :D

i am very happy that our lineups is scheduled weekly so there will be no more PJ brown in our league.

as for seniors here ... who's your best FA pickup on the previous year ? .... cuz1-3 round pick is our bread and butter .. but spare parts help us finish the game ... i love to see the gepeng and nick competitions ... what makes the diff ? ... the spare parts :D

Joining NBA Fantasy Benefits

1. I woke up earlier than i used to.

2. I finished my works faster cuz i wanna see my stats

3. My meetings scheduled in the mornin

4. Stuck in the morning traffic doesnt feel dat bad ..while keep tracking your players

5. Killing my time in the office while waiting for my meeting (now) while checking out next pickups woo-hoo

6. Helps my math skills :D

7. relief your stress by smacktalkin your weekly
opponent

last but not least

8. Pay attentions to all daily NBA games

"if one athletic guy love NBA he is gonna become a good baller, when bunch of geeks love NBA they are gonna be a great Fantasy manager" -Louis Murphy- WR for Oakland Raiders

COMLA: The New Comers' Interviews - With Edu

Before we get to the interview, I would like to proudly announced that Edu had volunteered to join the blogging team and contribute for this blog. Big Hooray!!!
Please read further for his interview below

W: ready for the interview?  :p
A:  yeess i am free till lunch

W: good good
so question 1: Why suddenly coming out of retirement to play basketball fantasy again?
A:  I dun consider retire from basketball world . NBA fantasy is always exciting games to play . and just love to be part of competitive comla family :D

W: what's your target for this season? top 3? top 5 or just make playoff?
A:  I guess making a playoff is kind of achievements for me personally.. would be great if i can finish higher than 8 seed :D esp with nash as my no 1 pick

W: Ah yes, Nash. , tell us in detail the whole story with the misclick thing?
A:  Try to get me into dat nightmarish day again arent you :P ... ok starting with the long day on the road with traffic and flooding (blame everything while u can) i arrived home 5 minutes before the draft ...so i tried to prepare my list for the draft ..while the clock keep on ticking... the window wont maximize as i already put kobsters, nash, and al jeff on my line ..

W: Seem ok so far.. then what happened?
A: Try did it manually on maximizing the window ... all of sudden i was up .. and accidentally pressed draft while nash as in the highlite .. not kobsters .... dat when the nightmare began .... so threw away my cheat sheet .. try to do teh damage control by taking brook at rd 2
lucky for me he is still available

W: Which player in your team which you think is a good pick/steal in terms of draft position?
A: I think gay is a true contributor this season... i am expecting him to gain more on rebounds.. i picked him due to missing kobsters on 1st round..while Gamble on Gil-zero to have a comeback year
FYI gay and Gil is not even on my list :D

W: Which team you can't wait to meet and compete in head to head?
A:  Off curse breaker he stole kobsters from me .. CC and CB gonna be like celts vs lakers

W: Any message for him?
A:  Gimme back kobsters ... back where he belongs , or  be affraid
my curse is stronger than yours

W:  LoL... good one, what's is your 2nd favorite team?
what's is your 2nd favorite NBA team?
A: I believe everyone knows me for being a die hard lakerfans .... well i have a high respect for the thunder with their youngsters

W: Ok back to comla, give me three teams which you think will finish top 3
A:  Ahhh crystal bal predictions ..its hard comla is a very competitive league .. might not wanna take a wild guess .. but i believe one of the rookies will finish the top 3 while the veterans still holing the no1 spot .. thats all i can say

W: great answer, so that concludes the question from me, anything else you want to add?
A:  Just a meesage to cursebreaker  "gimme back kobsters, he wont perform under ur curse"  :D ... thanks for having me :D

W: Thanks Du

DAMAGE CONTROL & STATS BIATCH

How to rebound from this mess ?

How to get more FTPS?

How to beat my Weekly Opponents ?

How to steal the best FA available ?

The answer is I dunno how :D

The season still young but some of the teams already make changes on their lineups... FA is packed and fat with talents. we are the managers .. what is our goal ? .. beating our weekly opponents and finding the highest FTPS FA available :D . is dat simple .... but i guess it is never been dat simple ... with the league as competitive as COMLA nothing is ever simple. we re bunch of NBA stats freak and bunch of comptitive kokows :D

This is the first entry as COMLA ... pardon my typo's and mistake due to cold feet jitter :D

DAMAGE CONTROL

we might pick tour fave guy or we even use crystal ball to pick the player on our roster .. but not all ends well. The X factor that keep this fantasy things interesting every year ... such as Gil zero faking injuries (while he injured eventually, zach the monster got injured on the first game) well by having a chance to change your lineup once a week is always a tough luck. i guess the only things to do is watch every game n stats to keep track the sleeper stats .... please be careful bout one hit wonder :D .

we are looking fwd to see Gepeng and M-auto-a (new nickname for Matoa). how long they last at the top of the comla league ... oops i almost forgot the Guard-nners ... the name given cuz he is a guard lover.. but Neebow might have the worst nightmare on the first week , team performs very well and cranking up high FTPS .. bu gepeng prevail with higher points on the first week. its gonna be a match to watch closely in the future :D

FA Tips

I dunno bout u guys but there are gonna be so many sleepers (good spare parts) on this year FA
i was thinking raps n cavs are ready to forfeit their season on week 1 but i was wrong :D .. some player might eventually wake up (evans raps) some people call him mini rodman/mini Ben wallace. Tolliver played one hit wonder type of game while love was sittin on the bench ( dats my opinion kojoe). while landry fields played goos utility role for the Knicks ..

now al harrington is a hot commodity :D dunno where he gonna lands :D ... may the best FA be with us this year

whats ur best pick for FA(spareparts) so far ? please share :D

dats it folks hope my entry wont put u to sleep ... Lights out people ..

COMLA League Standing:
Joe, Ossin, Wandy, Fu, Lung2 & Wi all got their first win.
The unlucky one was Nick, getting 1302 fpts (3rd highest) but had a tough match up with Joe (The highest scoring team) thus ending with a lost.
The other one was Sofian, leading the match all the way, only to see it being edged away by Fu on the last day with just 3.5 fpts. Ouch
